Revenue Cycle Specialist

ARS Treatment Centers specialize in outpatient treatment of those addicted to opiates. Our clinic is one of ten locations in the mid-Atlantic region that provides specialized outpatient services through medication-assisted treatment.

We are currently seeking a Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our team!

Role Overview:

The Substance Abuse Revenue Cycle Specialist will be responsible for processing and managing billing and collections for patients receiving substance abuse treatment services. This role requires a strong understanding of Medicare and Medicaid billing regulations, substance abuse treatment coding (MAT dosing and IOP), and a commitment to maintaining the financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify patient information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and submit claims for substance abuse treatment services in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure compliance with billing guidelines, including correct use of diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10, CPT, etc.).
  • Monitor claims status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
  • Work denials efficiently, use resources and tools to obtain a paid status of a claim.
  • Work with clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation for claim submission.
  • Communicate with clinic representatives and insurance carriers to resolve billing issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports on billing activities, collections, and outstanding accounts.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or certification in medical billing and coding preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably with a focus on substance abuse treatment services.
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems (KIPU and Collaborate MD).
  • Strong knowledge of billing procedures, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and medical terminology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance representatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex billing issues
